What is your goal this semester? Your goal most certainly isn’t to pass every class with the minimum passing grade. Hopefully you have higher aspirations than that! What about your goal regarding your relationship with Jesus? Many people that I talk to seem to have lofty goals for every area of their life except for their relationship with God. Too many are content with coasting. They just want to get by, or they are relying on some kind of spiritual works from their past. But that never leads to a closer relationship with God, or to being used by God in a great way. I’ve never seen a nominal Christian turn the world upside down for Christ. In Philippians 3:13, the apostle Paul gives us a picture of a runner in a race. The runner isn’t looking back. He’s not coasting on what ground he has previously gained. Instead, he’s “straining forward to what lies ahead,” putting every fiber of his being toward crossing the finish line. Does that describe your relationship with Jesus? If not, then why? Perhaps you are distracted by school, work, friends, or all of the above. What if this semester is when you make that change? Could this semester be the time when you see your faith in Jesus grow more than ever before? I pray that will be the case. Let me challenge you to join us at RCF this semester as we strive to know and follow Jesus together!
