It’s finals week, the time when you stay up all hours of the day and night to focus on studying for your exams. You’re stressed, but you’re giving your attention to that which is most important, right? What if I told you that there is something more important than your papers, research projects, and final exams this week? It’s true. Your time alone with God (reading His Word and praying) is the most important thing you can and should do today. That doesn’t change because it’s finals week, so don’t let God slip down on your priority list.
Francis Chan recently wrote: “There is no substitute for being alone with God. If you don’t have time, you need to quit something to make room. Skip a meal. Cancel a meeting. End some regular commitment. There is literally nothing more important you could do today.”
And I would add “take a break from studying” to his list! If you would like to read the rest of Chan’s article, click here. But even better than that, why not stop and read something from God Himself? Don’t know where to start? Try reading John chapter 1. You may regret many things in life, but you’ll never regret a single moment spent with God.
