With the semester drawing to a close, and Christmas only a couple of weeks ahead of us, I’m sure many of you have already started shopping for gifts, or you’ve at least been thinking about what you want to receive. What about the stuff you already have? While you are in college, it is very easy to waste a lot of time, money, and resources. Randy Alcorn, author of The Treasure Principle, wrote this: “A steward manages assets for the owner’s benefit. The steward carries no sense of entitlement to the assets he manages. It’s his job to find out what the owner wants done with his assets, then carry out his will.”
If we understand that God is the owner and we are the steward, we must ask the question, “how am I managing my time, talents, money, and other resources for God’s benefit?” If we understand that God is the one who gives and takes away, that should affect how we live. But if we don’t know the owner, it would be virtually impossible to carry out his will. It would be a mere guessing game! God’s Word (the Bible) tells us who He is and how we can be good stewards of this life and resources that He has given to each of us. Spend some time in the Word getting to know Him today.
